    A low friction film which is resistant to wear. The skived (or shaved) film is more suitable for the more conformable applications such as spirally wrapping rollers.

    The 3M™ PTFE Film Tape 5480 is a 3.7 mil gray tape with silicone adhesive. The long-lasting, high-strength tape is commonly used to wrap rollers used in the manufacturing process. The 2.0 mil skived backing. combined with a silicone adhesive is ideal for use across a broad temperature range – from -65°F to 500°F (54°C to 260°C). This product’s anti-stick backing contributes to improvements in the manufacturing process by reducing friction and wear. Minimizing friction also assists with sound management, preventing squeaks and rattles. Simplified Clean Up It’s easy to forget that a tape’s performance should be judged not just on its adhesion, but how it performs when it’s removed. Our easy-off tape means that the tape removes cleanly in one piece without leaving behind tape fragments or unwanted adhesive residue. With the 3M PTFE Film Tape 5480, cleanup is simplified. By wrapping rubber laminating rollers on hot polyethylene extruders, you can create a release surface to help minimize clean-up. It’s common for inks and sticky materials to build up on rollers, plates and belts that see heavy use in the production process. Use of our tape can cut down on the mess and improve sanitary conditions.
